Andrew N. Young, M.D., Ph.D.

Director of Clinical Laboratories, Emory University / Grady Health System - Pathology & Laboratory Medicine

Dr. Andrew N Young received his M.D. and Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (1995). He trained at Emory University, Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, as a Resident in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (1995-1998), Chief Resident in Anatomic Pathology (1998-1999), and Fellow in Molecular Diagnostics (1999-2000). Dr. Young was Staff Physician in Clinical Pathology at the Atlanta VA Medical Center (2000-2006). In 2006, Dr Young was named Director of the Grady Health System Clinical Laboratories, one of the largest clinical pathology services in the United States.

Dr. Young has been supported by extramural funding since 2001, for translational pathology research on kidney tumors and other neoplastic conditions. His laboratory has developed novel systems for renal tumor classification based on gene expression microarrays, quantitative RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry. Dr Young has presented his research in numerous peer-reviewed publications, as well as at national and international meetings.
