May Wang, Ph.D.

Georgia Cancer Coalition Distinguished Cancer Scholar
Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering, Hematology and Oncology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University

Dr. May D. Wang is an assistant professor of Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Hematology and Oncology at Georgia Tech and Emory University School of Medicine (Winship Cancer Institute) in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. She has developed a translational biomedical informatics and imaging research program. Her group has been researching and developing new theoretical algorithms and software systems to analyze high throughput genomic, proteomic, and metaboliomic data for cancer early diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutics study. In addition, her group has been integrating molecular imaging, 3-D medical imaging, and human digital anatomy data for translational research and training. Dr. Wang received the Georgia Cancer Coalition Distinguished Cancer Scholar award in 2004 and Georgia Tech Institute Outstanding Research Faculty Mentor Award for undergraduate teaching and research in 2005.

Dr. Wang received Ph.D. EE, MSCS, MSMath, and MSEE from Georgia Tech, and BSEE from Tsinghua University in China. She has worked as a research summer intern and a member of the technical staff at the former AT&T Bell Labs, Intel Architecture Labs, Hughes Research Labs, Lucent Technology Bell Labs, and Agere Systems before joining the faculty at Georgia Tech.
