Selwyn Hurwitz, Ph.D.

Selwyn Hurwitz, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor, VAMC

Dr. Hurwitz currently serves as Assistant Professor in the Laboratory of Biochemical Pharmacology, Department of Pediatrics, Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Hurwitz's research involves the application of pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, and virus dynamic models and simulation for drug development of anticancer and antiretroviral agents. Dr. Hurwitz has authored and co-authored 33 publications in peer reviewed journals. Dr. Hurwitz provides pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic support for the pre-clinical and clinical pharmacological studies in the program.

Dr. Hurwitz earned his Ph.D. degree, majoring in biopharmaceutics, from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences, with a minor concentration in Cancer Biology, from the Harvard School of Public Health, in 1994. His dissertation research took place at Joint Center for Radiation Therapy, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Hurwitz's post-doctoral training took place in the Division of Cancer Pharmacology, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School.
