Robert L. Vessella, Ph.D.

Professor (Urology and Microbiology), University of Washington

Dr. Vessella received his training at the University of Mississippi and the University of Kansas and joined Dr. Paul H. Lange at the University of Minnesota thereafter. He became co-director of the tumor immunology laboratory and developed a large research program in tumor immunology of genitourinary tumors. His laboratory has served as a training ground for many aspiring academic urologic surgeons interested in tumor immunology. He has many publications related to tumor markers, lymphocyte function, and monoclonal antibodies. Dr. Vessella joined the faculty of the University of Washington in July 1989.
